What information we collect, use, and why
When you send a message through the contact form
- Your name, age, email address and/or phone number, and how you'd like to be contacted
- Your message
We use this information to reply to you. To protect against spam, messages from people under 25 are discarded automatically.
When you create or use an account
- Your username and nickname
- Your phone number
- Your password, stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read
- When you last visited
We use this information to run your account.
Security and spam prevention
- If a submission is blocked as suspected spam or fraud, we keep it along with your IP address, browser details and rough location (country, region and city), so we can investigate abuse.
- We record whether a device has loaded the site normally, which helps us spot automated submissions.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server keeps logs of requests to the site: your IP address, browser details, the page requested and the time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and to fix problems.
Website statistics
We count page visits anonymously: which page was visited, the rough location (country, region and city, worked out from your IP address on our own server), the website you came from and any campaign tag in the link. We do not store your IP address in our statistics, and we do not track individual visitors across pages.
Lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we must have a "lawful basis" for collecting and using your personal information. You can find out more on the ICO's website.

- Object: object to processing that relies on legitimate interests.
- Data portability: ask us to transfer information you gave us to you or to another organisation.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Where we get personal information from

We use one strictly necessary session cookie. It keeps you logged in and protects our forms against misuse. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Sharing information outside the UK
The website, its database and server logs are hosted in the UK. Our hosting provider, Infomaniak, is based in Switzerland, and its staff can access the servers from there to run and support them. Some other providers also process information outside the UK. When this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, as UK GDPR requires.
